Exotic Pets
At Lake Huron Veterinary Clinic, our team is trained to see to take care of your exotic pets!
Before choosing small mammals, amphibians, and reptiles as pets, it’s important to do as much research as possible. These exotic animals have many different needs than cats and dogs, and it’s important to plan for those needs.
Dr. Shelley Wallace is prepared to service your exotic pets in Port Huron, MI
We provide exotic veterinary care for:
- Reptiles
- Amphibians
- Rabbits
- Ferrets
- Guinea pigs
- Chinchillas
- And other pocket pets!
As a member of the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians and the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians, Dr. Wallace’s special area of interest is servicing exotic companion mammals.
Specialty Services for your exotic pets
Regardless of species, we recommend annual wellness exams for every patient. Exotic animal care exams include a complete health check, fecal test, and conversation regarding husbandry, nutrition, handling, habitat, and other factors that determine their quality of life. If you notice any sign of disease or illness in your pet, please bring it to our attention immediately. What appears to be a minor infection, or a small cold can escalate very quickly.
Additional exotic pet care services we offer include:
- Spaying/neutering for rabbits, guinea pigs, and rats
- Dentistry for rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, rats, and chinchillas
- Adrenal gland implants for ferrets
- Mass removals
- Bladder stone removal on guinea pigs
- Blood testing and X-rays
- Teeth trims for rabbits and guinea pigs
